Good Bye Ute, Hello Michael

shapeimage_1-5After an uneventful day in Lima (I still haven’t found anything positive to say about the city), it was time to say good bye to Ute before taking a night flight to Chile.

It’s been nothing but great travelling with her for almost two months and she has been unbelievably helpful. Those of you with small kids will appreciate how much easier it is to have another adult with you. But beyond just being great with the kids (nobody tells children’s’ stories like Ute), she’s a good friend and incredibly easy and fun to travel with.

She’s thinking of re-joining us in Bali in Juli and we’re all hoping to see her there again.

We arrived in Santiago at about 3:00 am, dragged the half asleep kids through customs and met our driver that took us up to Cascada des Animas in about an hour. The (very nice) housekeepers were already waiting for us, we dumped the kids into their beds and slept until almost noon.

The very next day our good friend Michael from San Francisco arrived. He is setting off on a 3 month trip through Chile and Argentina and will stay with us during our week of Chile.

We had asked him to bring a few things and he showed up with a load of goodies:

– 92 diapers in size XL (hard to find on the road so far)

– A few pounds of vacuum packed, whole grain, black bread from Trader Joe’s (we won’t be finding any of it throughout the South Pacific)

– Dozens of fruit leathers (the kids love them and they’re semi-healthy)

Michael was the guest who had travelled the farthest to our wedding a few years ago and we’re really looking forward to our week here with him!P1020207
